Abstract |
The long-distance maritime wireless communication may fail due to signal multipath between the transmitter and receiver. To mitigate data reception failures, channel equalization techniques can be employed at the receiver. We propose a sequence equalization method implemented using the Viterbi algorithm. Decision feedback is utilized in the equalization process to reduce the number of trellis states, and signal grouping is employed to lower the number of trellis transition branches. Computer simulations have been conducted for the signal reception of 16-QAM at a 76.8 kHz symbol rate through a two-way channel model with delays of 10 µsec and 30 µsec. The results demonstrate no error flow due to the examined channel multipath. |
